My name is Anita and one of my favourite things in the world is sitting in the dark room of a film theatre. I’ll be in India and my plan is to visit interesting theatres and to watch at least one film in each city I visit. The idea came up after my first trip to India. Having watched a Hindi film in Jaisalmer and another one in Mumbai, I began to think that India had its own particular way of performing the movie-going experience, and that in this huge country I might come across many different ways of enjoying film.

Since I’m travelling all over India, this blog is going way beyond Bollywood (hence the title). The idea is to learn as much as possible about all the film industries of India. And to learn more about India in the process.

Disclaimer: I don’t speak Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu or Malayalam. So I won’t be indulging in any film critiques. I’ll just take it as it comes, and try to enjoy both what I can understand and what I cannot.
